North Carolina LiteracyCorps "Getting Things Done"

The NC LiteracyCorpsENGAGE Project is a cohort of AmeriCorps members working to increase the capacity and direct service impact of North Carolina's campus and community-based literacy programs. During the 2009-2010 program year, the NC LiteracyCorps will place 17 full-time, six half-time, and ten minimum-time AmeriCorps members on college campuses and community sites across the state. Our goal this year is to involve the Baby Boomer generation and college students in our work by recruiting them to be volunteer tutors.

  • Full-time members will provide 1700 hours of service with a 12 month commitment and receive both a living allowance of up to $12,000 and an educational award of $4725.00.
  • Part-time members will provide 900 hours of service with a 12 month commitment and receive both a living allowance of up to $6000 and an educational award of $2362.50.
  • Minimum-time members will provide 300 hours of service with a 12 month commitment and receive an educational award of $1,000.
